Now here is something really special.....



Next Thursday will be SARA GREY's 70th birthday and we will be having a special birthday party night for her at the Royal Oak in Lewes. She will be performing with her son Kieron and there will be a lot of other special guests turning up to join in the celebrations. It is very appropriate that this birthday should be celebrated at our club because we gave Sara her first English folk club booking at our club - a mere 40 years ago.

Please be there! If you really can't make it, please send a card, a letter, a message to be read out to her on the night.

Wish I could be there, but will have to wait for her March tour through Arkansas. I think she also has some North Carolina and Tennessee dates on that tour as well. Please wish her a happy birthday from Arkansas. I hope you have a good crowd.

Sadly, it's a bit far to travel from my present home in Reading after I finish a radio programme at 8.00.
When Sec of the Cumbernauld Folk Club at the Cottage Theatre back in 1970, we booked Sara on her first Scottish tour. Might have been her first Scottish booking.
Will someone please give her a Hi and a 6'7" hug from me

No, she can't possibly be 70!

Many happy memories of hearing Sara sing, and tell stories, including when she was in the Folk Quiz at Sidmouth and required to speak for a minute without hesitation, repetition or variation on the subject of plucking. Sara talked about turkeys and Thanksgiving - and when she was asked why not about banjos, explained that she frailed the banjo.

This is all just lovely! With the messages posted here and the the emails that I have received, I have now had over thirty messages for Sara from 8 countries and 3 continents. In addition there have been a pile of cards from individuals and clubs.

All the messages will be printed out and given to her on the night - but keep them coming. There is still over two days left for you to post a message here.
