Subject: RE: Tech: Anybody having trouble? (error 37000) From: Don Firth Date: 05 Feb 10 - 12:39 PM Last night at about 10:00 p.m. PST (1:00 a.m. EST), once again I got Error 503 - "taken offline by operator." When I click on the Mudcat bookmark, sits there like it's died for several minutes, then the error message finally appears. Repeated attempts produce the same result. Don Firth |

Subject: RE: Tech: Anybody having trouble? (error 37000) From: Jeri Date: 04 Feb 10 - 04:17 PM That's the message we're getting (if we're getting it). It's the one I've received and the one people have quoted up above. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Anybody having trouble? (error 37000) From: Sawzaw Date: 04 Feb 10 - 03:57 PM I keep getting a long MSQL error message that has IP block checking in there with my IP number. Am I paranoid or is someone trying to block me out? |
Subject: RE: Tech: Anybody having trouble posting? (error msg) From: JohnInKansas Date: 04 Feb 10 - 03:56 PM I have found the "CFQUERY" error several times when first opening mudcat, and once or twice in the last month when submitting a post. I've more often found the "taken offline by operator," and in a couple of cases when I got the query error a retry confirms the "phone off the hook." Maybe it's just because Max and I (and Don F once) are the only ones awake around 01:00 EST on a fairly regular basis. (22:00 PST would be 01:00 EST.) I've also found more frequent errors than usual at other sites, e.g. with my email server "dropping the connection" just as it starts to download messages; although it's probably unrelated to mudcat. I blame the general network errors on Twitter, since a billion 25 char messages present a much higher probability of "collisions" than a few million intelligent (200 char?) posts. John |
Subject: RE: Tech: Anybody having trouble? (error 37000) From: Jeri Date: 04 Feb 10 - 03:43 PM Paul, I can see your point. I think the problem was the same but the symptom looked different. I can see why people wouldn't have found this thread if they were searching for 'error', which is undoubtedly why there were new threads. I changed the thread title, which I hope doesn't piss Joe off(er). |
Subject: RE: Tech: Anybody having trouble posting? (error msg) From: Joe Offer Date: 04 Feb 10 - 03:28 PM I've e-mailed a sampling of error messages to Max. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Tech: Anybody having trouble posting? (error msg) From: Paul Burke Date: 04 Feb 10 - 03:21 PM If you read the thread, Paul, it's the same problem, same error message. By the way, this thread was refreshed today and two new ones started for this latest. But it's NOT when I'm trying to post. It's READING messages. So if you want a general problems thread, change the title to match. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Anybody having trouble posting? (error m From: Genie Date: 04 Feb 10 - 03:00 PM Today, not only did I keep getting "error" messages, but one of them was a lie! So I ended up double posting. Argh! |
Subject: RE: Tech: Anybody having trouble posting? (error msg) From: Don Firth Date: 04 Feb 10 - 02:38 PM It seemed to heal up there for a bit, but within the last few days, it appears to be back. I have to make darn sure I type a post into Word first, then cut and paste it into the message box. Several times within the past few days, I've hit "Submit Message," then opened the thread again and, lo! my post isn't there! It generally takes on the second attempt. A few nights ago, I tried to access Mudcat fairly late in the evening (maybe ten-ish or so, PST) and got a message telling me that Mudcat had been taken off-line. I presumed that Max or somebody was wielding the wrench and screwdriver. The past couple of nights, I get the same message that RamblinStu posted above at 04 Feb 10 - 10:26 a.m. I don't think the world is coming to an end, but if there's anything in what I've said that helps with the problem, very good. Don Firth |

Subject: RE: Tech: Anybody having trouble posting? From: Max Date: 24 Jan 10 - 10:51 AM We were having a problem, but I appeared to solve it last night. It was a space issue. Well, only because I am not as suave as I should be with databases, and/or we're using 10 year old database software. I've fallen a bit behind on the learning curve. Staying up on the upgrades is less a money issue than a time and knowledge commitment. I'd rather have my nose in a Bronson or Grossman book than a Technical Reference. |
