Subject: Lookin for Irish folk tunes lyrics From: Rachel B. Date: 31 Jul 99 - 01:42 PM Hi guys! I searched for these songs on the database and didn't find them. Perhaps someone can help.........? The first one goes, "I wish I was on that M-17, stone walls and the grass is green".........(chorus) The second one is an upbeat song with a title of something like "The Claire County Ceili Band". I'm not sure about the word, 'Claire'...but I think that they it begins with a 'c'. It's definitely 'The________ County Ceili Band'. I thank you all............as I have gotten a lot of lyrics through this forum. Very good responses. Headin' for Mullaney's Harp and Fiddle in the Strip District (just outside of Pittsburgh, PA) tonite to enjoy some Celtic Rock with RED HAND PADDY!! Terrific band here in the 'Burgh!!! If anyone can get the lyrics to me before tonite, I'd be real pleased!! Have a great weekend!

Subject: Lyr Add: N17 (from The Saw Doctors) From: Brakn Date: 31 Jul 99 - 09:10 PM N17 is a Sawdoctors song!!! Well I didn't see much future When I left the Christian brother's school So I waved it good-bye, with a wistful smile And I left the girls in Tuam And sometimes when I'm reminiscing I see the prefabs and my old friends And I know that they'll be changed or gone By the time I get home again Chorus And I wish I was on the N17 Stone walls and the grass is green Yes I wish I was on the N17 Stone walls and the grass is green Traveling with just my thoughts and dreams Well the ould fella left me to Shannon Was the last time I traveled that road And as we turned after Claregalway I could feel the lump in my throat As I picture the thousands of times That I travelled that well worn track And I know that things will be different When ever I decide to go back Now as I tumble down these highways Or the filthy overcrowded trains There's no-one to talk to in transit So I sit there and daydream in vain And behind all these muddled up problems Of living on a foreign shore I still see the twists and turns in the road From the square to the town of the tribes Regards Mick Bracken |

Subject: RE: Lookin for Irish folk tunes lyrics From: Mary Kate (SingsIrish Songs) Date: 01 Aug 99 - 09:59 PM The second one may also be a Saw Doctors song...from their latest "...Sun Street" CD (The entire album title has slipped my mind and I don't have it near me since I'm still on vacation. I've been referring to it simply as Sun Street for too long.) Joyce County Ceili Band (I am pretty sure it is "Joyce" County...I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong) Goodness, I should know this stuff! Mary Kate |
