Subject: RE: BS: Apple reveals Apple tablet today From: catspaw49 Date: 09 Sep 10 - 03:20 PM Thanks Amos......I am so damn sold on the i-touch...........The ProLoQuo2Go program is a perfect fit for Tris and with the hard drive capacity he has plenty of room for truck and Wiggles videos (like about 40 hours)......and that damn screen is superb!!! Fast processor and 512 RAM makes it larger and more powerful then the desktop I'm using and its WiFi ready so he can use it here and at school to access the net PLUS use the speaking Proloquo program...........All this with a 3 year warranty including drops and dunks for a bit under $550. That's friggin' amazing......... PLUS......the county MRDD Board is picking up the entire tab. Its the first time we ever used the allowance but this is the frankly the first thing we have found that we really wanted to get for him.as adaptive equipment in a long time. Spaw |

Check out YouTube iPad Music samples. A |

Subject: RE: BS: Apple reveals Apple tablet today From: Crow Sister (off with the fairies) Date: 09 Sep 10 - 02:46 PM "Apple is not for you!!" Apple IS for ME. I LOVE apple. Both my partner and I use apple everyday and wil ever do do. But I'm not some hillbilly retard because I recognise that other current regular tech. (such as films, music, books) gives me a better quality experience than the iPad does. I'm a happy nerd in film, music and books, so I seek the best experience I can get. iPad is just a faint gimmicky echo of these pleasures, and is not in any way a serious contender, unless you lack ears and eyeballs. |

Subject: RE: BS: Apple reveals Apple tablet today From: Amos Date: 09 Sep 10 - 02:32 PM Catspaw's excitement about the fourth generation iPod Touch is well justified. These guys at Apple are continuing to break new ground and enable new ways of living with their devices. Of COURSE you won't be interested if you don't want to change your ways, that goes without saying. If the benefits don't appeal and the beauty of the engineering doesn't excite you, it's simple: Apple is not for you!! A |

Subject: RE: BS: Apple reveals Apple tablet today From: Crow Sister (off with the fairies) Date: 09 Sep 10 - 12:45 PM I can cope without it for now. I'll stick with watching films on a decent sized screen, reading books in a format that I can fold the corner down on and fall asleep in bed with or even loan out and lose, listening to music on proper speakers with an amplifier for decent sounding music, and using a lap top for photography, word processing and internet.. A decent computer definitely improves particular aspects of one's creative/leisure/work life considerably. But I know there are many things that I currently do in other ways that I *could* do on an iPad but that would not match the way I currently do them - for me anyway. |
Subject: RE: BS: Apple reveals Apple tablet today From: Amos Date: 09 Sep 10 - 12:24 PM Greg F: Your criticism might be valid if all you wanted an iPad for was to read books. Sheeshe!! Add movies, internet, email, and music on command and it begins to look like a useful bit o' kit. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Apple reveals Apple tablet today From: catspaw49 Date: 09 Sep 10 - 12:17 PM We are in the process of getting Tristan a generation 4 (9/1/2010 available) I-Touch to run a program called ProLoQuo2Go.....The gen4 is a quantum leap past the gen 3 which was fantastic as it was. Gen 4 has 512RAM, the Apple Retinal display, and two camera(forward and back facing), plus all the great features of the previous ones. The program for a delayed kid with a speech problem or many with autism is simply amazing. Previous versions of similar programs have cost in the thousands......This one WITH the I-Touch is less than $500.!!! One of many ways to use it .....Other videos on the sidebar there are equally good. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Apple reveals Apple tablet today From: Amos Date: 09 Sep 10 - 12:00 PM Apple announced Monday that it had reached a new milestone with its iPad, selling two million devices in less than 60 days. The latest announcement shows that Apple is selling one million iPads a month, an average of nearly 35,000 a day. The iPhone, which went on sale in mid-2007, took 74 days to reach one million sales. In a news release, Steven P. Jobs, Apple's chief executive, said customers around the world who are buying the iPad "seem to be loving it as much as we do." Mr. Jobs also said, "We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone." Shipment of the international version of the iPad was delayed by several weeks as Apple struggled to meet demand. Last week Apple began selling the iPad in nine countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom. Shoppers waited in long lines to buy the device, which went on sale in Apple locations and some partner electronic stores. Applications for the iPad continue to trickle into the iTunes App store. As of Monday the store listed 8,027 iPad-specific applications available for download. There are currently nearly 200,000 applications available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. |
