For the benefit of those puzzled by this question, Queensbury Festival was a lovely little event held last winter in the West Yorkshire village of the same name. Friendly, well-organised, and popular with audiences and performers.

No doubt Joe G will be along soon to give you the definitive low-down.

But the answer's no. It's not on.

Hi Cap'n - thanks for asking & thanks to Bainbo for breaking the bad news. Unfortunately though the festival was a great success in many ways, and we got some great feedback from audiences and artists, the folk day did not achieve the audience numbers that we expected (given the line up) and required to break even (or even come close!). The Chair of our Committee decided that he did not wish to continue with the folk day because of this, though some of us would have liked to explore possibilities of putting on something on in the village on a smaller scale but this would have been difficult to achieve due to the cost of hiring the Victoria Hall venue.

I will be discussing the possibility of a small summer day festival with the management at the home of my Raggalds Acoustic music nights near Queensbury and will let everyone know if this is going to happen. Watch this space!

Cheers

There is of course a session at the Pineberry Inn at Queensbury, EVERY Tuesday night.

Taylors Landlord and Black Sheep, absolutely the best pints in the district.

That's a real shame, Joe - we had a wonderful time.

Thanks chaps - I enjoyed it too despite being really stressed most of the day! Its a shame we won't be able to use that venue again for a folk event as I thought it was fantastic - though it did take a lot of work to damp the sound!

As Dave H says there is an excellent session at the Pineberry on Tuesdays and every Friday we have Raggalds Acoustic - this week its Roger Davies & next week we have Ewan McLennan who has really impressed Mike Harding.

Indeed - the Raggalds has a large outside area (car park) and a patio as well as a function room - will have to see how keen the pub co is in suporting live music - fingers crossed! There would be less risk in having it mostly indoors of course.
