Well I have some video
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=F25E094484E6E7DB
and photo's from the one and a half days.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ladydetemps/sets/72157623313975659/

Wish I could have got to more....but everything I wanted to see seemed to clash....now where's a time machine when you need one? ;) lol

EDIT: Hannah & Sam , Mawkin:Causley were highlights for me...I like the 'hour with's' great format. Enjoyed the workshops...and as for the ceilidh actually joined in with 6 dances at the housewives' choice dance (*waves* Hi Ralphie) at the pump rooms...usually do the first dance then give up. Now my legs ache....
Ended up meeting lots of new people and bumping into acquaintances.

Just thought I'd do a quick note about Cheltenham Festival.

I was only there on the Sunday, as part of Ram Company's "Waltzer's and Wonders" and had to leave before the end of the evening.

The atmosphere throughout the whole Town Hall was wonderful and all the stewards and organisers are to be congratulated.

I only got to see 2 performances - Heretique and Fay Hield's Trio. Can I just say that any club or festival organiser who books them will be making a very intelligent decision. They were wonderful!

All the people who we spoke to at the festival were having a really great time and had enjoyed the whole weekend, so it seems I missed other wonderful performances, but I can't comment on them - I'll leave that to others.

Cheers

12th-14th February
You'll find details on the net if you look up Cheltenham Folk Festival. The site it's on includes various other events held at Cheltenham Town Hall.

I'll be there too - running singarounds during the day in the YMCA Chapel. I believe I'm "officially" doing 11.00am - 3.30pm on the Saturday and 12noon til 3.00pm on Sunday but I tend to stay on longer! People can carry on singing in the room till 6.00pm on the Saturday and 4.00pm on the Sunday. (If you get chance, check the details in the programme in case it says anything different!)

It is FREE and people drop in and out throughout the day. It's also a really relaxed setting where people who are a bit nervous about singing often seem to pluck up courage to have a go. Be prepared, though - there's no bar.

Sue

Terry - if you contact Jo Heatley - she may be able to help. I was thinking about it and decided against it - but she had a good suggestion. Just can't remember what it was!!

Terry ....We don't bring our camper to this one as parking is very tight in Cheltenham. Suggest you contact the organisers as some vans park at the Town Hall.

Dave ..... Gareth sang that well known Folk song "The first cut is the deepest!" We didn't recognise him either until somebody told us who he was!

Sal .....look forward to seeing you for a good sing at the Bell

Not browsing the stalls my dance tickets will not get me in to the Town Hall. So the answer has to be no.

We will be running our usual song and music sessions at the Bell Inn, Bath Road on Friday and Saturday nights from 8.00 p.m. The Bell is only a short walk from the Town Hall and the sessions are always well attended with festival guests popping in too. One year we even had Gareth Gates! Gareth who, you might say, but he was brilliant, taking his turn with everyone else, which is what it is all about!

Look forward to seeing you there!

Merek'n'Dary

Not browsing the stalls where there may be wondrous selections of previously cherished books on Folk song, folk music, folk lore and folk life for sale?
