Subject: RE: ever hear of a RODERICH PAESOLD Guitar? From: GUEST,Guest, Matt Date: 31 Jan 10 - 10:16 PM I've played Paesold basses, and they're quite good. I would imagine that their guitars would be of comparable quality. |
Subject: RE: ever hear of a RODERICH PAESOLD Guitar? From: olddude Date: 01 Feb 10 - 10:11 AM Thanks folks, I appreciate the info. could not find a thing on the web except there is little info and most that were found were quite damaged. This one is perfect, rosewood back, mahogany sides ... spruce top and ebony finger board .. think I may make an investment even though I can't really play a 12 string well at all anymore from my messed up fingers ... I gave my 1967 Martin 12 string to my brother. Kinda like the sound of of this and if I only use it for 1 or two songs at a gig it maybe worth it |
Subject: RE: ever hear of a RODERICH PAESOLD Guitar? From: PoppaGator Date: 01 Feb 10 - 01:48 PM I've never heard of a guitar having different tonewoods for the back vs the sides...interesting. Not saying it never happens, just that I've been unaware. If it sounds good enough, and plays easily enough (i.e., good straight neck, etc.) the price seems quite reasonable. |

Subject: RE: ever hear of a RODERICH PAESOLD Guitar? From: GUEST Date: 19 Jun 11 - 08:48 PM I have a Roderich Paesold guitar I bought in a pawn shop in the mid 80's in Calgary AB, its in pretty good condition and the sound is good. Someone played it for many years before I got it back, someone broke it, it was taken to a professional guitar repair person and it works wonderfully. Its nice to see on the web that its made of rosewood. Its quite lovely and the sound is not bad at all for something that has mostly collected dust in my bedroom for 30 years! |

Subject: RE: ever hear of a 'Roderich Paesold' Guitar? From: GUEST Date: 02 Jun 13 - 07:46 PM Found on the www 'I wanted to post an email response I received from the "string instrument specialist" at the Roderich Paesold company: thank you very much for your kind inquiry but sorry, no we can't answer your questions, strange enough, hmmm? We did never make guitars, we had always been a company for bows and stringed instruments only. I'll give you view into the history and you'll understand why there are vintage guitars by Roderich Paesold and why we can't come up with answers: In the late 1960's Roderich - the founder - retired and sold his company to the clarinet company Wenzel Schreiber & Sons in Nauheim. Later Schreiber (together with Roderich Paesold) was integrated in the Boosey&Hawkes (B&H) group (the other companies were Keilwerth, Buffet Crampon, Besson, Rico, Winter and (only from 1993 on) Hofner). A world wide group-own network of international distribution companies was installed. There was a high demand for guitars in the 70's and 80's but B&H didn't have a own guitar manufacturing company yet. But the group management of B&H wanted to join the guitar boom: Dutch made guitars (actually manufactured by Egmont, this company is not existent any more) were bought in with Paesold labels and sold mainly by the British and USA distribution companies. We here in Germany initially even didn't know anything about that. Now you'll understand that we don't have any technical files, no brochures, no catalogues, no pricelists, just nothing. We only gave - for a certain period - our name because we were the only company in the group that was related to strings, all others were related to brass- and woodwind.' |
Subject: RE: ever hear of a 'Roderich Paesold' Guitar? From: GUEST,ironernie Date: 27 Apr 14 - 08:27 PM I have a 1973 Roderich Paesold p100 I bought in 1988 from a friends brother I still play it everyday. It is a tough guitar been with me in my army days, has had some damage but fixed it myself. put schaler tuners and a late 60's dearmond soundhole pickup wired a tone and input mounted on guitar. still sounds great. This my everyday player the 1st guitar I would rescue if my house was burning. |
Subject: RE: ever hear of a 'Roderich Paesold' Guitar? From: GUEST Date: 15 Jul 14 - 10:05 PM I have a P100 that I learned on. It's value is sentimental and I've had it for over 30 years. The sound is quite good. It's neck was broken and fixed because I actually love it and couldn't part with it...and the music I make on it. I have very small hands and it was a perfect fit for me. It was made in Holland and it was new somewhere between 1973-1975 and the company wasn't making them anymore was what I was told. |

Subject: RE: ever hear of a 'Roderich Paesold' Guitar? From: reggie miles Date: 08 Jun 18 - 02:21 AM Just found one of these at a thrift store for $30. It's a P100 dreadnought sized model with what appears to be a plywood spruce top and plywood rosewood back and sides, solid rosewood fingerboard & bridge and a mahogany neck witha rosewood overlay on the headstock. There's no name on the head but the label is still inside the soundhole. It was initially a righthand model, that the previous owner put a left handed nut on and strung it up for their southpaw playing. I'm going to swap out the nut to change it back to its original state and restring it. It looks structurally sound. Though it's suffered some bumps, with no case, it seems in very good shape, with little playing wear. |
Subject: RE: ever hear of a 'Roderich Paesold' Guitar? From: reggie miles Date: 12 Jun 18 - 07:28 PM I just found a right handed nut among my things, that was close enough to the right size, to check out my P100. I didn't glue it in place. Because it wasn't something that I wanted permanently installed on the guitar. Unfortunately, the nut is cut in such a way that it's producing some buzzing on the low end. However, I am completely impressed with the sound of this guitar. At $30, I feel as though I really scored big time and would like to hang onto it. It has a couple of large craks in the thick clear finish on the lower bout of the face. But other than that it has no other issues, just some bumps and smaller scratches in the finish, which I can easily live with. I wish there was a means of dating this particular guitar. Most of the P-100s that I've seen online had mahogany back and sides. But this one is like olddude's with rosewood back and sides. It has a very booming low end and could use more high end. I imagine that with the right nut and medium gauge strings, it will respond even better than it does now. It's hard for me to believe that I managed to find this for as little as I did. I think that those interested in it may have thought that the finish cracks were cracks in the top and as such, they left it behind. A lucky day for me! |
