Hi Snail,
Yes I've been posting as Burl for quite a while now, though I do put my own name on as well where I think appropriate. The Burl thing started when I began posting on Mudcat ages ago. I did so under my own name. Then I began to wonder if this didn't seem a bit (no, a lot) like blatant self advertising. I thought I'd change to a pen name, seeing that some other professionals did so. The first one under Burl was a post about a trip I made to Australia some years before. I got a lot of fun out of the replies from Oz folk trying to guess who I was. Bob Bolton, once a regular poster from Australia, got me in one! So I've been 'Burl' ever since. I thought everyone knew.
I was very sad to miss the great tribute to my old pal Johnny but by all the reports it would seem he was celebrated in the style he deserved. I'm looking forward to doing more singing this year and onwards, got 3 festivals fixed so far. Hope to see plenty of 'Catters around the scene. Cheers Everybody, Burl/Roy.

After a bit of Googling, I have discovered that Roy Harris posts on Mudcat as Burl. In the words of Michael Caine, "Not many people know that." Real names are more informative and "Burl" does not include The Pump and Pluck Band - Vic Gammon, Sheila Gammon, Will Duke, Alun Howkins and Ian Russell.

What excellent taste Professor Beard has.

Yes, I thought it was great to hear Roy on the radio today as compensation for him not being able to get to Haddenham yesterday!

Kitty

Professor Mary Beard's musical choices were quite exceptional, particularly the Goldberg Variations, but the track she'd rescue if the waves threatened to wash them away was It's All Over Now, Baby Blue. DID Playlist
