I do hate it when these 'tributes' appear online - I for one immediately think 'bloody hell, has died!'

I think I'm still recovering from seeing the 'Tribute To Donal Lunny' that popped up a few months ago ...

In the context of the last post it's probably worth knowing that TG4 has awarded Cathal the Gradam Ceoil 2010 for best traditional singer of the year.

The Irish Traditional Music Archive has recently posted some audio tracks from a tribute session to the inimitable flute player and singer, Cathal McConnell, recorded at last year's Willy Clancy Summer School in Miltown Malbay.

Don't panic when you hear the introduction in Irish on the first track - by Muiris O'Rochain, co-founder of the Summer School! Most, at least, of the remainder is in English.

Regards
