A bit cheaper than a new tent though Mr. H. At least you will have somewhere to sleep at Upton.

Hope to catch up with you there sometime Saturday.

Seayaker.

'The spectacular end to the weekend was Dave's tent disintigrating in the increasing gale but I claimed the bits to make a better porch for my large tent.

It's an ill wind..... ;-)'

***********

Likewise, I was able to repair my tent with the disgarded bits from The Gloom Band's damaged one, the only extra expense being new 'Knicker elastic' replacemnt shock cording for the poles.

Now I understand why its called 'shock' cording because've the price!

Em, the URL you linked to works fine and I can see Mark's pics, but it was a different URL to the one Mark posted. Confused :)

I hadn't realised just how bad the weather was on the last night, the gentle rocking of the van kept me sound asleep so I missed all the 'fun'. Mr. Happy, how did your SATLAV fair in the gale, it would be a brave person to go in there :)

Apologies to all for my tardiness in not responding about the Easter sesh 'til now.

As Seaker reports above, many tents, including ours, got wrecked by the gales in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday morning, so we had to pack up & leave for home rather abruptly, without having an opportunity to say thanks & farewell to everyone.

However, the weather was kind during the remainder of the weekend & all the sessions were superb, thanks to the diversity of talent & entertaining contributions of the assembled guests.

Also a big thank you to the hotel landlady, Joanne, for putting up with accommodating us all so magnificently, & the provision of the tasty hot food each evening

Finally, many thanks to all who attended to make the event so enjoyable with their excellent musical & vocal perormances.

Just returned from a week in N. Wales so a belated thankyou to Mr. H. for organising a great weekend and to everyone else for good company and music.

The spectacular end to the weekend was Dave's tent disintigrating in the increasing gale but I claimed the bits to make a better porch for my large tent.

It's an ill wind..... ;-)

"Oh I do like to be beside the seaside, Oh I do like to be beside the sea.." Especially when the wonderful British weather is at it's entertaining best,it certainly didn't disappoint us, the VW was leaking in places I didn't know there were places befor. I thought there was someone flying a kite on the cliffs at one point, but I realised it was a popup tent ;) Mind, the in pub entertainment was pretty good as well. Thanks to all involved for a great session.

Have just woken up after sleeping through most of day recovering from the fantastic weekend at Bull Bay. Great company and wonderful music. All in all, a brilliant start to this years festival season. Even this morning's gale force mud and tent wrestling event was fun. Thank you so much Mr Happy for organising it all.

Latest news!!!

Severe weather conditions, in the form of heavy snow, are affecting parts of North Wales including the Bull Bay area of Anglesey.

I have just spoken to Joanne, the hotel licensee, & she says conditions there at the moment are apalling, strong winds & driving snow.

However, all is not lost!!

Joanne says that folk are welcome to camp on the front garden of the hotel, as its more sheltered there, also better access to toilets etc.

Also indoor camping will be available inside the hotel, in the dining room & function room.

For those travelling on Thursday 1st April, the campsite & hotel gardens will be available all day, but the hotel is not open until 6pm.

If you are coming from the Midlands or South, use the A5 through the mountains. Much nicer and usually traffic free.

I've used the A55 on a friday eve. for weekends in Anglesey and its free flowing but on sunday eve. it's chock solid so its the A5.

In view of the recent sad news of Vicki Williams' passing, I'm hopeful that we'll all be celebrating her life & contributions to both Welsh and national folk culture in these islands, during our weekend in Anglesey.

Also remembering all the good times we had with Vicki & Tref on occasions both locally & at do's all over the country.

Due to unprecedented numbers of potential attendees, the spaces available on the established camping field may have become restricted.

However, there's now an overflow site on hand a short distance away & the landlady is offering transport between it & the main site if required by anyone.

This looks like being another stormin' weekend (though not literally, I hope). I've explained to Mr H in a PM that LITM won't be able to make it, as Mr Webb has other commitments (and so do I, for once) but we're hoping to make a dramatic re-appearance at the Festival in August, following last year's hugely enjoyable event.
Have a great Easter, folks!
