Subject: RE: Davy Knowles - Young Bluesman- From: M.Ted Date: 12 Feb 10 - 12:42 AM I wouldn't have brought it up, but since it's on the table, the boy does not seem to be playing blues at all. |
Subject: RE: Davy Knowles - Young Bluesman- From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 11 Feb 10 - 05:09 PM Oh come on, guys....that lad is gonna be big! I know that's frowned on in here, but heck, he's cool! |
Subject: RE: Davy Knowles - Young Bluesman- From: GUEST,Tunesmith Date: 11 Feb 10 - 05:06 PM He's not from the Isle of Man! Surely, he's from somewhere across the pond. But, if he really is from the Isle of Man, why is he singing in that silly voice? |
Subject: RE: Davy Knowles - Young Bluesman- From: GUEST,matt milton Date: 10 Feb 10 - 05:14 PM "It's nice to know the young are carrying on the tradition" I hate to be an old grouch, but I don't hear much tradition in there. Unless you mean the tradition of white-rock-electric-guitarists-influenced-but-not-necessarily-playing the blues. As in Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Stevie Ray Vaughan et al. Amex Card blues, pained-face Telecaster soloing blues, in the style of Robert Cray. A list of young(ish) people who are a little closer to a country blues tradition, who make better music, might mention include the likes of: Pepe Belmonte, Samuel James, Duke Garwood, John Drain, Jack Day, Boycott Coca Cola Experience, Smoke Fairies, David Broad, Hat Fitz & Itchy, and others. |
Subject: RE: Davy Knowles - Young Bluesman- From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 09 Feb 10 - 06:30 PM I've searched youtube but nothing on there yet...although I bet someone will load it up, so keep looking... Meanwhile, here's Davy And I'm sitting here, watching a future Star who'll reach the same heights as Eric Clapton, without a doubt... Superb! |
Subject: RE: Davy Knowles - Young Bluesman- From: GUEST,Triskel Isle of Man Date: 09 Feb 10 - 06:24 PM Dont suppose anyone managed to record the clip by chance? Was working and all I got was texts from friends saying "He's on now! He's on now!!" I believe he nailed the 100 club gig tonight too-genuine local hero! |

Subject: RE: Davy Knowles - Young Bluesman- From: fat B****rd Date: 09 Feb 10 - 06:29 AM I saw him on telly this morning. Good for him. |
Subject: RE: Davy Knowles - Young Bluesman- From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 09 Feb 10 - 06:20 AM It's nice to know the young are carrying on the tradition, the UK blues audience isn't getting any younger! (takes one to know one, Roger!). I was blown away by young Joe Hollywood (guitar) when I saw him a few years ago when he was about 17 and am currently enjoying the music of teenage Ben Soundy (sax) at my local club. Lots of 20-something jammers of high standard come along, too. RtS (66 and never got beyond kazoo and washboard) |
Subject: Davy Knowles - Young Bluesman- From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 09 Feb 10 - 03:49 AM Just seen this young man (22) on BBC Breakfast News.. Wow! Davy Knowles - Myspace He started playing the blues when he was 11, and never stopped. Lovely lad too, from the Isle of Man. Anyway, I thought some of the blues players on here would love to hear Davy. |
