The International Folk Music and Dance Alliance is holding its 22nd Conference in Memphis, TN on February 17-21, 2010.

This organization brings together a wonderful combination of performers, presenters and lovers of music and dance.

I attended and volunteered at the Western Regional gathering several years ago, and was astonished and the volume and variety of music there. The event revolves around showcases where people perform
and the participants convert their hotel rooms into venues and
the shows go on for days!!

There are shows, workshops, panel discussions, record labels, broadcasters, venues, and experts of all sorts all coming together
for a wonderful networking event.

I see there are some musicians from Wales attending this year. I would recommend the Folk Alliance -- it is a great group. The year I went, prizes were awarded to those who have contributed to folk music and Rosalie Sorrells was one of the recipients. Roz and Howard Larman
from the syndicated radio show Folk Scene have also received an award.

not volume, as in decibels, but volume,
as in sheer numbers of musicians!

if you scroll down on this newsletter page you can find
you tube scenes from last years conference...speeches,
songs, tunes , interviews, videos....etc.
