Gee, I just got home from Oregon on Monday, and this thread is making me nostalgic. The high points were the song circle (thanks a lot, Margo), watching whales at sunset at Shore Acres State Park, and Much Ado About Nothing at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival at Ashland. And the Oregonians don't treat us Californians TOO badly (as long was we promise not to move there permanently).

I'm refreshing this thread because I am visiting the area of Portland and Seattle for June 3-11, 00. I don't expect a song cirlcle to be set up for me! But would appreciate any info on happenings during that time. My friend Michael Mandrell (guitarist) is touring that area doing gigs from mid-May until mid-June, so happenings within that time frame would also be welcome. I can't wait!!

can you move it up a week or so and get there for folklife? it is awesome...huge and crowded if it is sunny...but nonstop music of all kinds for 4 days..I will be there but don't live in Seattle any more.

Hey, if any of you ever get down to Coos Bay, you should check out the stern section of the New Carissa. It was something watching those nimrod coasties dropping napalm into her.

As a resident "coastie" of Coos Bay, I'd just to remind Amergin that it was the "nimrod" government dropping the explosives.

LOL!!! Rosebrook!! You're right, it was the navy, sorry. The whole thing was a SNAFU. As a member of the clean up crew, I was told to do twenty different things by twenty different bosses. There was no communication between them. BTW, Rosebrook, I am hanging my head in shame.....

Don't forget our local boy's song about the whole Carissa incident! Check out Jonathan's song at this site. Margo

Thx, Margo, those are pretty good lyrics. Maybe one of these days I'll write my own from the insider's point of view. The Carissa spill wasn't nearly as bad as the carrion crews (news crews) made out. Alot of our time was spent "looking" busy not actually "being" busy.
