Subject: Lyr Req: Jenny Who Lives in the Dell
From: GUEST,Greg in Baltimore
Date: 13 Feb 10 - 07:47 AM

Greetings to all.

I found a band score from the US Civil War that was scanned on the Library of Congress site titled 'Jenny Who Lives In The Dell."
Just score. No libretto/lyrics.

I've drawn blanks searching the 'Net.
Does anyone have the lyrics.
Thanks in advance.
Greg

Thanks.
I used google's advanced word search when I tried to locate the lyrics and got 2(!) hits. Those were reference to the title, but not lyrics.

BTW, that was FAST!!!

Thanks again,
Greg

Subject: Lyr Add: JENNY WHO LIVES IN THE DELL (Cooper, ...)
From: Jim Dixon
Date: 14 Feb 10 - 12:00 PM

Lyrics copied from Public Domain Music:

JENNY WHO LIVES IN THE DELL
Words by George Cooper. Music by John Rogers Thomas.
New York: Charles W. Harris, 1866

1. O! the fairies have not all departed
And bid this dull planet adieu,
For I know a maid gentle hearted,
With eyes that are tender and blue,
You'd take in a moment to be one,
She weaves in all bosoms a spell,
So if you are longing to see one,
It's Jenny who lives in the dell,
Jenny who lives in the dell.
Jenny who lives in the dell.
So if you are longing to see one,
It's Jenny who lives in the dell.

CHORUS: Jenny who lives in the dell,
Jenny who lives in the dell.
There's no maid so bright and so bonny!
As Jenny who lives in the dell.

2. O! I'm sighing wherever I wander,
My heart has been stolen away,
On nothing at all do I ponder,
But Jenny's fair face all the day;
But she sings as blithesome as ever,
And knows that I love her so well,
For Love in his roving has never
Found Jenny who lives in the dell,
Jenny who lives in the dell.
Jenny who lives in the dell,
For Love, in his roving, has never
Found Jenny who lives in the dell.
