Hope the true owner gets it back sonn, and the thief his/her just desserts.

In my time I have had two Jim Jones taborer's pipes.

Both were birthday presents.

Both were stolen, one at Letterkenny FF in 1977, one at a Liverpool festival in 1984, when I was then dancing with Southport Swords.

I wouldn't mind, but when Jim sent me the pipes on receipt of my payment, he advised me to make a little cloth 'case', so that when not playing the pipe it could go into the 'case' around my neck, for safety.

Nah, I thought - no 'folkie' would ever rip another folkie off . . .

Guess what ?

Just to agree with Surreysinger. The Facebook group, is a really useful asset.
I'm one of the administrators of the Group, and we have had some success.
And, while I'm on.
Take photographs of everything to do with your instruments. Serial numbers, Interesting features. After all, most people have digital cameras out there, So, 40 Pics of your beloved instrument has to be a good idea.
Also check out E Bay on a regular basis. (I still do for my stolen Fylde guitar 6 years ago, No luck yet though!)
I wish Mark well in his quest.
Please send him my best wishes.
Ralph Jordan

Dick - I'm not a member on that site, but if you are, could I suggest you let the person who has had their banjo nicked know about the Facebook Stolen and Lost instruments gallery pages? ANy port in a storm will help. (Dealers do use it to check out instruments, and pictures etc can be posted. There has been a certain amount of success in tracking down some instruments posted there).
