I don't know how you ply Stanley with Guinness over the Net: when I tried him via e-mail years ago for the lyrics of Flat-Pack Blues, after asking him at a gig, I got no reply (which may be a technological hiccup, rather than his not doing anything about it). I can't recall his performing version of LT, so don't know if he incorporates unexpected harmonies in his arrangement, but – not knowing if DtG's web-link produced results or no, and rather long after the event – the following chords make a do-able version.
I've used the convention of putting the chord in brackets at the beginning of the syllable where it hits. In a couple of places, you can use more than one chord, depending on the harmonisation / progression you want: these are indicated with the second option after a \ [to avoid confusion with the e.g. D/A notation meaning: D chord with A bass string]. The "second option" doesn't indicate a lesser choice.

Note: the chords with no word associated [lost chords???] indicate a change under the held last note of the tune.
I don't know why I think so, but isn't it "last train TO Bacup"?

Believe in coincidence? How many tunes are there on Mudcat? More especially, how many including all the ones under discussion, as in this thread? Must be thousands. One day last week, I visited Mudcat for the first time in about 2 years, looking for the lyrics for 2 songs: Peterloo, and Last Train. There was a long thread about Peterloo, initiated by Dave the Gnome. A contributor called Stewie had helpfully provided the lyrics. Having digested the masses of info around that song, I turned to this one, to find this much smaller thread whose first respondent was… Dave the Gnome; the next one pointed to a posting of the lyrics [helpfully] provided by, yes, guess who? Haven't a clue who you are, but thanks, guys!
