David Hyams

David Hyams is Memphis bound with his Miles to Go Trio, following their invite from the International Folk Alliance Convention, which runs from the 17-21 February.

The trio will be the sole WA act at the Convention - regarded as the major showcase event for the North American Folk/Roots Industry. There will be a total of 8 Australian acts, all performing in the newly established "Sounds Australia" showcase room.

Regular members Hyams and cellist Jennifer Tingley, will be joined by Melbourne based fiddle-singer Jenny M Thomas, recently described by fROOTS magazine (UK) as "like no other violinist on the planet" Their 10 Memphis performances also include showcases for online CD selling giant CD Baby, as well as Innovative indie marketers 'Market Monkeys'.

While it's the first time in North America for the trio, the invitation follows Hyams 2009 trip to Memphis, where he collaborated with rising Irish star Noelie Mcdonnell. The Trio is looking to the Convention as a stepping stone to more extensive North American touring late in 2010, following the strong airplay of their second album, "Knowing the Place", which following its release earned a place in the Folk DJs "Top Albums and Songs".
