From: GUEST,Annie

Hi,
I'm a vocalist looking to learn some of the Irish songs I sing on guitar, but I'm still relatively new at guitar and not great at just picking out chords when I hear them.
Willie Taylor
A Kiss in the Morning Early
Flower of Magherally-O
An Aimsir Bhaint an Fheir
Done with Bonaparte
Those are a few that are in my mind right now. And any other Irish songs ye may know chords for, pass along, as I probably know them to sing. Cheers!
Annie

Is there an Irish "Willie Taylor"? There's a very well known English song of that name, is that the one you mean?

It may very well be an English one. I learned it from an Irish friend of mine while I was there so in my mind I've always thought of it as an Irish song. I'll look it up and see where it comes from.
Thanks for the website. I didn't find this song right away, but I'll look around their site and see what I find.

TOO many English people want to assume that ANYTHING done by an Irish band does not HAVE to be Irish !
Most so called English music has a Irish connection, from the shanty to the sex pistol.
Up until the middle of the 19th century the Irish were the largest population in the two islands. 1 in 3 were Irish, there would not be a English alive who has not got some Irish.
We invaded and conquered England without a shot being fired.

The Irish also established two overseas colonies--Newfoundland and Australia. How's that for contentious?

Here's a link to a youtube video which shows you how to play Willie Taylor on guitar, it's very easy and a good starter song for learners
