Hi everyone. Here is a link to a video from a gig I did in Paducah Kentucky with The Dirt Daubers. We had a blast and just thought I would share it.

I listened for a while, then left the second time the beautiful people gave me the finger. Why should I take nastiness in return for niceness?

I see that the Dirt Daubers are touring all over the place and have a strong following... they travel light, not much gear...if they did, Layne looks like he could handle it..

JT you ought to post one of JD Wilkes' docu-videos...now that's roots, Kentucky style... hope they're around when I'll be passing thru..

Yes Lizzie I was playing the washboard on this one. I jump around and play whatever I can grab that will make noise haha. We always just have a blast and it is real informal but everyone including the crowd has a blast.

I hope they are in when you get here Ron. They are with Billions booking agency and are on the road a ton. Then JD has the new CD coming out with The Legendary Shack Shakers as soon as he gets off the road from the Daubers tour (Arctic Apocalypse tour is what they are calling it haha). I will add a link for JD's seven sign doc. It is a great movie and has a bunch of the guys I play music with on it. It is an exploration of the old ways clashing with the new. It also explores the religious struggle that goes on within the bible belt and the way it molds and shapes music and art in general. It is a great show.

The hand gesture in the vid I posted that offended some people proves to me well... I let ya'll think about the symbolism behind the whole psychological response to that symbol. I mean in the US it is half of a peace symbol haha. Hope nobody was too offended it was not a sinister thing just a joke for a friend that I forgot was in the vid.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I see a legitimate level of artistic representation within. Also, the clash between the classic, roots style music and the hand gesture in question serves to represent the current dilemma faced by the genre. How does the traditional movement remain true to itself while appealing to a younger generation? In my humble opinion, it seems that this video illustrates the ability of it to do just that.

People are constantly asking how to get younger people into the scene. I have read several posts concerning this and this video seems to prove that many young people are involved. After all, they had to be there to make the hand gesture--right?

Jayto deserves beaucoo credit for helping preserve the unique style of music that was developed in his region, and bringing it to a younger audience... of course, I'm totally biased but i just had to say that.

It was a great honor for me to work on a project together and come up with something different and creative, while respecting the trad. in both our 'hoods...... R.

Thanks Bankley the pleasure of recording with you is all mine brother. I am an odd guy I know but I have a STRONG love for tradition. I try to play to crowds that are not normally accepting of the style. You have to be bold in your presentation or they will eat you alive alot of times. I feel that is what you have to do to keep it alive. I have an extensive reasoning for alot of the things I do and say. I know I will be scorned on both sides for this or that but in the end I just want to bring people to folk and roots music. Right or wrong I am trying.

It was great to see the Edgar Cayse Grave site in the video "Never Gonna Die" Read all his books back in the powerful 70's. Been browsing you clips and there sure are some great stuff you have created.
Thanks

that's funny, I picked up an old yellowed paperback at Goodwill yesterday from '74 called 'My Years with Edgar Cayce'.. last year we stayed a couple of days in a funky motel right behind that cemetery in Hopkinsville, I'm intending to visit again, also the old chiefs graves at the 'Trail of Tears' park in the same town...
