Just wondering if any of you guys might know the origin of this song.
Had it a few years but never had any details.

One day when I was out walking, an old man came into view
His coat was covered in patches, each patch was a different hue
He said I'm the man of all colours, the rainbow is at my command
I seek the colours of everything, in sky, at sea, or on land

Well what is the colour of leaves sir when winter melts into spring?
Oh what is the colour of leaves sir, pray tell me if you know?
If you think of golds and of yellows, as warm as the touch from the sun
That is the colour of leaves, sir when the snows of winter are gone

Oh what is the colour of eyes, sir, that seek for the girl I adore?
Oh what is the colour of eyes sir, when they look at me with love
If you think of the colour of loving, the colour that all men pursue
Well that is the colour of eyes, sir when the love that looks through them is true

Then what is the colour of loving, sir, I wonder if you do know
What is the colour of loving sir, pray tell me if you know
If you think of all the tints and shades of all the colours you know
That is the colour of loving. Sir, all those colours and more

(Ok ,the clocks runnin')

The first thing that came to mind was a UK religious-based TV programme from the 60s that had a lot of songs in it. I'm sure we've discussed one of the songs before, but I can't think of the name of the song or the name of the programme.

So altogether, not much help! But if the name of either comes to me in the next few hours I'll get back to you; them someone may be able to confirm or dismiss it.

Mick
