Subject: Origins: 'I Know that My Redeemer Liveth' From: Nathan in Texas Date: 22 Feb 10 - 09:41 PM Earl Johnson recorded this song back in 1927. There are a couple of other hymns with the same title, but can't find this one anywhere. The lyrics, as much as I have been able to transcribe them are as follows. If anyone can help me with the rest of the lyrics, I'd appreciate it. I know that my Redeemer liveth And has (hath?) prepared a place for me. And crowns of victory He giveth To those who would His children be. [Ask ]me not to linger long Amid the gay and [?] For I am only waiting here To hear the summons shout from home I ne'er regret [?] I stand and wonder at it all That He [?] To [?] I know that Jesus soon will come I know the time will not be long Till I shall reach my heavenly home And join the everlasting song |

Subject: RE: Origins: 'I Know that My Redeemer Liveth' From: Nathan in Texas Date: 23 Feb 10 - 07:08 AM Thanks! Don't know how I missed it in my search. I know that my Redeemer lives, And has prepared a place for me, And crowns of victory He gives To those who would His children be. Refrain Then ask me not to linger long Amid the gay and thoughtless throng, For I am only waiting here To hear the summons: "Child, come home"; For I am only waiting here To hear the summons: "Child, come home!" I'm trusting Jesus Christ for all; I know His blood now speaks for me; I'm listening for the welcome call, To say: "The Master waiteth thee!" Refrain I'm now enraptured with the thought, I stand and wonder at His love— That He from Heav'n to earth was brought, To die, that I may live above. Refrain I know that Jesus soon will come, I know the time will not be long, 'Till I shall reach my heavenly home, And join the everlasting song. Refrain |
