Surely not a permanent closure? I really hope not!

Apologies if the rather rushed message yesterday on the Judy Cook thread caused some alarm.
What actually happened was that at around 11:30 am yesterday the landlord of the Tiger Inn, Long Eaton, telephoned my colleague John Bentham to inform him that he had just realised that we (Traditions at the Tiger) were due to meet that night however the pub was now closed and he was moving out the next day. While that news was a bit of a shock it was not entirelly unexpected for although we have maintained our audiences the pub as a business has appeared to struggle, looking pretty empty as I pass it most nights.
John was able to contact the previous Tiger landlord who now has The Stumble Inn virtually next door to The Tiger (and which also houses The Singing Jenny and The Robin Hood folk clubs, as did the Tiger) to obtain a room for the night. While the room is undegoing some structural changes and we were subjected to noise from the bar as a result, the work should be completed soon and we will be meeting there on the 28th March with Jeff Wesley as guest.
So Traditions at the Tiger as a folk club is still very much alive and we will give out news as to our future venue as things fall into place.

Oh good. Definitely not time for the end of THAT era!

Most definitely not an end, Tom.

We had a great night with Judy. The open fire made it feel very homely.

from Dave Sutherland

Due to the uncertainty of the future of the Tiger Inn, Long Eaton we will be holding our next meeting in THE STUMBLE INN, (formerly The Wheatsheaf), Tamworth Road, Long Eaton on Sunday 28th March when our guest will be JEFF WESLEY.
We were going to have our next club night on this date anyway as the following week is Easter Sunday and we did not want to compete with the holidays.
Because of this and so that we will hopefully be able to bring you more permanent news the next edition of TATTERS will be an APRIL/MAY combination and as such might reach you a week or so later.
We look forward to welcoming you on Sunday 28th at 7:30 to hear our old friend Jeff Wesley.

Just a reminder that Traditions at the Tiger, Long Eaton will be meeting once again on Sunday night in The Stumble Inn, Tamworth Road, Long Eaton when our guest will be Jeff Wesley.
This is a week earlier than usual in order to avoid the Easter holidays.
It is quite possible that we will be using the same venue for our May meeting (Sunday 2nd) when our guests will be Kevin and Ellen Mitchell.
