For the attention of all South Yorkshire folkies! Kiveton Park Folk Club celebrates its 40th year with a folk day on Saturday 13th March. We've been open every Tuesday night (except one) since 14th March 1970.That must be a bit of a record. We've had some great times over the years and had some of the folk worlds notable performers including Lou Killen, Christy Moore, McColl and Seeger, The Ranters, Martin Carthy, Joe Heaney and many more too numerous to mention.
To mark the occasion we're having a free full day of folk, starting at noon, ongoing till 11pm. It will be a continuous singaround, varied by session music, Morris dancing and short spots by some of the many local artistes who have graced our stage over the last 4 decades. It will be a day for folk to come along to sing, play, soak up the atmosphere or maybe just chat to old mates.
All are invited and we look forward to seeing lots of old (and young)faces on the day. Meanwhile, spread the word. Obviously we don't have everyone's address or phone number. Local clubs have been notified and we are expacting a good turn out. There'll be hot food available at reasonable prices and a cheap bar.

Very best wishes from all at Kiveton Park Folk Club.We look forward to seeing you on the day.

Regards

Andy

Hi Andy and all at Kivvo. I remember a lot of good times at the club and other fine guests such as the Stewarts of Blair and a superb family of fiddle players from Nova Scotia (Mc.........?) I live near Leicester now but I just might pay a visit for an hour or three on Saturday.

Wilf

Sadly we are at a big bash for the Lions Club so can't make it.

I'd just like to wish you all the best for a good "do" and for the next 40 years!

R

Always been intrigued to know that there was an f.c at Kivy.
Used to be over there a lot during the day with work stuff.
Congratulations on your anniversary and many more to come.
Keep this up another couple hundred years and even the mudcat folks wil start saying that Kiverton Folk club is a tradition.

Speaking as one of KP's earliest guests, from the Lord Conyers days, and onwards, I say congratulations, and may you go on for many more years. Maybe I'll see you again sometime in the future. All best wishes, Burl.

The 30th anniversary event was outstanding. If this is half as good it will be brilliant.

Its tomorrow!!!!! Cancel the shopping trip, the car cleaning, the dog polishing, the footie and all that mundane stuff. Get down to Kiveton and chill out for an hour or two.
Regards and best wishes from all at Kiveton Park Folk Club

Andy
