Subject: Lyr Req: Sam Johnson to a hen-house went . . . From: GUEST,motorapido Date: 11 Mar 10 - 08:23 AM I'm looking for info/lyrics on a song my grandfather used to sing for me. He was born in 1899 and had learned many songs from his grandfather, who would have been born in probably 1830. The song went something like this: Sam Johnson (pronounced Yonson) to a hen-house went, Just for to get some chicks. And when one up his coat sleeve went, he uttered out these words. A do, do, chick-a-do-do, put you in a stew-do. Take you home and pick you clean, my object is to hoodoo you. A do, do, chick-a-do-do, cook when when I should. When I make a stew-do-do, I always make it good! |
