I was 19, pounding spikes through 4" timbers on the roof of my future father-in-laws pole barn/carport in Warminster, Ontario. He stuck his head out the door and yelled "Elvis just died!". I, in total shock, said "Fuck- Off!" He said "Elvis is dead and don't tell me to Fuck-Off again!!! It'll be 33 years for both soon!

When Elvis died I was 15 and I had my first pint in the local pub. The barman thought I was 18, becuase I told him so and in them days, we didn't tell lies. When I was 18, I bought hiom a pint and showed him my birth certificate. He called me a cheeky bastard and smiled and took my pint.

Chance, Tim Leaning, did cause Hendrix's death. Don't tell him any different, or he might get upset.

It rained the day Elvis died...and in Pinner, the Mighty River Pinn turned from a trickle to a raging torrent...with people canoeing in the streets...

It was a very surreal day..

I can do math, too. Forty years ago, I was 21 and drank my first legal hard liquor. Forty-three years ago, I could drink beer legally without my parents present.

Three threads ago, I got tired of the copycat threads. This is the last one.

We've had Lead Belly, Hendrix, Joplin, Elvis, and one or two others. The humor or repetition gets old really quick, so copycat threads tend to get combined with other threads very quickly....
