thanks Dan... actually I wrote it in '99 while staying in the Northwest Territories with my buddy Stormin' Norman.. something about the north that just pulls things out of you... anyhow, it was recorded last August
up near Perth, Ontario while I was doing some trax for Stormin'...
Another buddy sent it on to me today.. I had almost forgot about it

I've always been a Jack London fan,
Albert Failley (Faille) was originally from Wisconsin and lived in Fort Simpson for a long time... that's about 200 miles northwest of Yellowknife...... he used to go out prospecting.. would take his boat apart and transport it piece by piece along with the rest of his gear above the Virginia Falls..(one of Trudeau's favorite places) one year he got frozen in with an early winter and had to stay there until spring.. he developed bad teeth and pulled them all out himself... tough old bird.. there's a documentary about him done by the NFB, I believe...

Thanks Ad. Norm's with a real pro engineer now, Quentin..
I'm glad they hooked up..

Thanks Bob for the links... I love stories like this.. the North has sure produced many individualists...
basically if you're stupid, you die... we use to go to the dump and watch bears and ravens... another story..

along with 'Father Longface and the Caribou Toupee'

I'd love to hear those other stories, too. I love your deep voice and would love to hear you do some Robt. W. Service, too! My sister has always had a thing for Alaska and lives there now, plus her son was working as a chef plus at the literal north pole...I know they will both be interested in hearing this. My dad would love it; he worked on Amchitka for a few years. We were raised on London, Service, Kipling and others...I'd say you are in good company; your work brings all of them to mind.

Beautiful, beautiful!! Thanks for sharing.

bobad, thanks for the links. Dan, thanks for putting this up!

that's great, pass it along..KL.. I came to the conclusion while writing this that old Albert's treasure was in his lifstyle.. the gold was really secondary... now it's oil, gas and diamonds as well up there..
never been to Alaska but have seen a couple of her islands north of the Hecate straight while in Haida Gwaii... that's really far west in Canada.. next stop.. Dutch Harbor, then Japan...
