Thanks for the input. I was thinking about trying it using all 7th. chords. E7, A7, B7. Eric Taylor does an amazing version in what I think in DADGAD tuning. It is on one of Eric's last two albums as "Brand New Companion/LuLu is Back/Dirty, Dirty, Dirty". I saw Eric put on a hell of a show last month, but forgot to ask him about the song.

I play it as a blues in E. So, E, A and B (B7). Would love to find an accurate tab of how Townes plays it.
