Hi,
I own a fingerbone bass, bought around 1993. Its now also been heavily customised.
The company then was def. not owned by Paul.
At the time I think the company had swopped hands and/or some employees, as my bass took 3 months or so to build with complications after they made it. They were hints of internal unrest in the company at the time, if i remember correctly. Shame it went under eventually, as they had a good instrument design, which with tweaks could have been a great long standing british made line of basses.

I first saw Fingerbone basses in a copy of guitarist magazine in the late 80's and was blown away by the look of the bass.
I think the instruments Paul made, were the best ones the company name produced.

good one, Art.
I hope the family is able to grab that one!

Here is more info..about the guitars, the company, the maker:
http://www.guitarsite.com/database/Guitars/rec/5246/wwwboard/messages/45.shtml

http://www.guitarsite.com/database/Guitars/rec/5246/wwwboard/messages/47.shtml

and from this mudcat thread, a message from Paul Richardson :
http://www.mudcat.org/detail_pf.cfm?messages__Message_ID=2718050

"Message posted here from Paul Richardson, the originator of the Fingerbone brand of guitars.

http://www.guitarsite.com/database/Guitars/rec/5246/wwwboard/messages/163.shtml

Paul Richardson explicitly states he sold the company to Mark Hammock

Mark Hammock IS Antonio Lamaq. They are one and the same so don't be fooled by Mr Hammock telling the world he was christened Antonio
Lamaq"

this message, posted in june of '09 is also looking for a guitar for Paul's son..
http://www.musicradar.com/forum/archive/index.php?t-41692.html

I hope they have found one, or soon will.
what identifying factors will assure that the instrument was made
during the time that Paul made them, not the successor?
serial numbers? dates?

When making the ebay search, make sure you tick the square for 'Include title and description' in case somebody lists one with 'guitar' in the main heading and only mentions the maker in the detailed description.

Paul Richardson the maker of Fingerbone guitars died in a road accident last year. He is terribly missed by his friends and family.

His family are still searching for a guitar of his making for his son to remember him by. If you possess or know of a Fingerbone going spare or for sale, could you please contact me at huwpryce@dsl.pipex.com
