hmm i thought i posted this but do not see it so here goes again'
One of the best birthday songs is called Cut the Cake and is sung by John McCutcheon. (not the song asked for, but one verse is about
how the birthday person is so busy at work they forget it is their b-day)

When the birthday person get home they are
"taken off guard, with chairs and tables all over the yard,
and their friends jump up and holler real hard..."

I am interested in finding verses to the Happy Birthday to the tune of the Volga Boatman song. Following onto Micca's 28 Mar 10 - 06:56 AM message, above:

Sometimes the line after the verse is sung as "On your Birthday" rather than "Happy Birthday".

Of course, Micca had already given a couple of those verses.

Rhianon you dont by any chance mean the one that uses the Volga Boatmen tune?
The way I heard it sung by assorted Mudcatters lead by Tom, Judy and Hannah Goddard at last years Getaway was

A few years ago at the Four Fools Festival I heard a group sing a really good happy birthday song. Sadly I can't remember any of the lyris or tune but the gist of the song was everything that can/does go wrong with life. Highly amusing song!

Does anyone recognise this?
