Shall we confuse future generations of folkies by writing songs about places that are not pronounced the way they look on the page.

There were three bonny lasses forom Gloster / Sissester / Chop Yat....

There is a village near us that used to be pronounced Yuckinton until the incomers were in the majority. They read it as it is spelled - Utkinton.

And is there an Irishman out there who can tell us the local pronounciation of Ballybunnion?
