Subject: King's Arms, Upnor - St George's weekend
From: Kev The Clogs
Date: 30 Mar 10 - 10:54 AM

Hi there.

That time of year again.

Rob and Ris at the King's Arms, Upnor near Rochester will be holding a Beer Festival over the weekend of Friday 23rd, Sat 24th and Sun 25 April (St. George's Day weekend).

Bishop Gundulf Morris and Copperfield Clog Morris (think there might be a third side as well??) will be dancing on the Friday evening, St. George's Day (8pm start - that's Morris time!!).

As usual, there will be a fine selection of real ales and ciders in the delightful garden along with a range of snack foods. There is a large marquee so that you can sit under cover if the weather is not good. There will be a real fire around which people can gather.

No real time table (apart from us dancing on the Friday night), so just turn up as and when you fancy over the the weekend.

It's always been a great weekend before and everyone is always made to feel welcome.

All are welcome, especially if you can play an instrument or sing or both.

So --- see you there!!!

Regards

Kev the Clogs

I.ll be there. I have all three days off ?
I missed the event last year because of work.

Are there any B&Bs in Upnor. If not I will stay in Rochester and Bus it in each day.

Upnor + Sweeps + Pigs Ear+ all of Sidmouth. Strewarding + 2 Knockers. `= Otford.
The excitement is overwhelming. "
I must go have a lie down?
regards to all Pierre.

Great; I should be able to get there on one of the days.

Full marks to you for organising and/or informing and encouraging this and other such events, Kev. People who make things happen are often unsung; thanks a lot, mate.

We likely won't make it. TSO has too much work to catch up on and Sweeps follows the next weekend. If we can get out it will probably be Crayford too.

Kev, PM me which BGs will be there - I could slip in Fri with Blossom's amp that I borrowed to return it if the BGs I wish to avoid are probably absent.

Then I can go to Crayford on Sat, maybe!

She is a striking Garden feature Richard . She,s not in the water I do not know how she stays up right. She would look great on a large water feature.

For a moment there I thought he was referring to Dilligaf, a risky procedure, if ever there was one.

I'm off to Crayford on the Saturday, having committed to that one.

I might make the Friday evening if I can arrange transport, but Sunday is impossible, given the distance between the SansPareil and the Kings arms.

Too much for my knee to walk that both ways.

Sans Pareil? That's nowhere near any of the involved pubs. It's near the Findsbury roundabout, is painted pink, and has karaoke.

""Sans Pareil? That's nowhere near any of the involved pubs. It's near the Findsbury roundabout, is painted pink, and has karaoke.""

It is also the closest point to the Kings arms by bus on a Sunday.

Hence the reference. It is over a mile away, and in addition you have to cross the dual carriageway, in my case at a medium fast limp, which can be lethal.

BTW Richard, what involved pubs?

This thread is about the St. Georges Day at the Kings Arms.

Won't be able to make any of this one, I'm afraid.

No transport forthcoming for Friday or Sunday, and I'm committed elsewhere on Saturday.

Would somebody please give Rob my best, and tell him I'll be at the next one for sure.

NEW TRANSPORT IN THE PIPELINE!.............YIPPEE!!!

Might be a couple of weeks though.

So - can we have a heads up of who is expecting to be there on any of the days?

I'll be there Friday night and a lot of Saturday.

I must say that I am a little disappointed that many who attended each of the last four festivals held on this weekend are travelling further up the river London way.

Looking forward to seeing Growler and Melodeonboy and Hoff for starters :-)

8 year old Rover 75 CDTi Diesel Automatic.

As new condition, average mileage, full service history.

BMW 2 litre Turbo Diesel injected prime mover, so no worries about Rover cam belts and such.

Motorway (which encompasses most of my mileage) 54 mpg.

Also has built in SatNav, so no more searching google maps and using masses of printer ink.

The result of the surprise sudden arrival of a small legacy.

Feels a bit like birthdays when I was a kid.

Well - a verypleasant two days.

Many thanks to Gong Scourers and Copperfield for joing Bishop Gundulf's on Friday night. The dancing was great. Thanks to Rob and Ris for the great selection of beers and the huge amount of food.

Saturday was a great session - the men of Gundulf's kept the flag flying. Great dancing, the crowd were great and we collected £60 for charity. Some great singing afterwards and interest from several people re joining. Cheers to Melodeonboy for turning up on Friday night.

Rob and Ris again provided great beer and food on Saturday.

Dilligaf and I wiill nit be there on Sun, but the weekend is still running with many fine beers. So if you want to turn up and sing or play, then you will be more than welcome!

OK - see you all at Sweeps next week.

Regards

Kev
