Subject: Lyr Add: ITSY BITSY TEENIE WEENIE YELLOW...etc. From: Peter T. Date: 07 Aug 99 - 03:51 PM Homage to annap and to summer songs: ITSY BITSY TEENIE WEENIE YELLOW POLKA DOT BIKINI Written by Paul J. Vance and Lee Pockriss As recorded by Brian Hyland, 1960. 1. She was afraid to come out of the locker, She was as nervous as she could be, She was afraid to come out of the locker She was afraid that somebody would see -- CHORUS: Two, three four, tell the people what she wore. It was an itsy-bitsy-teenie-weenie yellow polka dot bikini That she wore for the first time today An itsy-bitsy teenie-weenie yellow polka dot bikini, So in the locker [blanket, water] she wanted to stay! -- Two three four, stick around we'll tell you more! 2. She was afraid to come out in the open, And so a blanket around her she wore; She was afraid to come out in the open, And so she sat bundled up on the shore. --CHORUS 3. Now she's afraid to come out of the water, And I wonder what she's gonna do; Now she's afraid to come out of the water -- And the poor little girl's turning blue ---CHORUS exit: ....she wanted to stay. From the locker to the blanket From the blanket to the shore From the shore to the water Guess there isn't any more! |

I didn't go in because I already knew the words to that "folk song". ;-) Tee Hee. I'm honored. It has been raining a bit here, which we needed badly, but now the sun is shining. I will go out and sit on my beach for awhile. I'm on vacation you know. Again, thank you. |
Subject: Lyr Add: ITSY BITSY TEENIE WEENIE YELLOW..(parody) From: Jim Dixon Date: 10 Dec 03 - 10:45 PM Here's a parody, one of H&J's better ones, I think. Lyrics transcribed from the sound file at http://www.geocities.com/u2page5/ ITSY BITSY TEENIE WEENIE YELLOW POLKA-DOT BIKINI (As sung by Homer & Jethro) She was afraid to come out of the bushes. She was afraid all the people would stare. While she was divin', she lost her bikini, So the poor little girl had to wear-- (Two, three, four, Tell the people what she wore.) She wore a pair of baggy old red flannels, Itchy, scratchy, red long-handles That she found hangin' out on the line. So she put 'em on and then She couldn't get back out again So she crawled out through the trap door behind. (Well, I swear! Dig that crazy underwear!) Now she's standin' out there in the river, In the water clean up to her knees. Here's the only advice I can give her: Keep your trap shut or you're gonna freeze. (Tell us, will you please, Why she's wearin' BVDs.) She lost her itsy bitsy teenie weenie Yeller polka-dot bikini. Down the river it started to drift. All the fellers had to snigger When they seen her oblong (?) figger 'Cause all her sand had started to shift. (Homer, you old coot, Help her find her bathin' suit.) Now at last she has found her bikini. On the beach it had been all along. So she strolled down the beach till a lifeguard Finally made 'er put it on. (Two, three, four, That's all there is; there ain't no more.) Nyah-nyah! [Recorded by Homer & Jethro on "Songs to Tickle Your Funny Bone," 1966.] |

Subject: RE: LYR ADD: ITSY BITSY TEENIE WEENIE, ETC. From: LadyJean Date: 10 Dec 03 - 11:45 PM Back at dear old Ohio University, aka Harvard on the Hocking, I lived across the hall from two girls from Hong Kong. They had a record of Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini in Chinese. It was a truly wonderful thing. I can remember the morning my roommate and I woke up to that amazing song, and just lay there, in our beds, laughing. |
