I got the lyrics, and I think the score as well, from Barry in the 1960s / 70s - Al Lawrence and I used to sing it. I think it's storeed somewhere in the house with all my old stuff and I'll dig it out.

It was recorded by Redmayne, who included mates of Barry's such as John Cartain and Graham Walker, and were were also often to be found in the Church Inn.

I occasionally sing another of his songs - "Vera", about an innocent young Salford lad dragged into the back of a Transit van by the eponymous lady.

Incidentally, there's another folk club now in the old upstairs room at the Church - see http://www.axoc21.dsl.pipex.com/

Guest (Barry's son) - hope he's well. Please give Barry my regards - long time no see from Paul Reade.

Barry Oates is my dad. I love the song Mild and Bitter Days. I'll ask him if it's available online anywhere for you to listen to...

Don't know the song but I remember the Church Inn at Prestwich. I was a guest there several times. Club run by a great guy named George Purcell. He was a big fan of Josh White. Anybody know whatever happened to George?

Does anyone have the words/tune for a song called "Mild and Bitter Days" which was written by Barry Oates. This was apparently about the Church Inn in Prestwich, Greater Manchester.
