I came across your site after trying to search for Monologues.....
My Great Grandfather in 1914 read them at a Smoking concert but we dont know if its something he made up or whether they are well known monologues but Google didnt find anything.

The Smith Browns and/or The Night Watchmans Story Monologue's.

Hello, Mrs. Dear-
Can you give us a summary of the two stories, so we have a little more to go on? Titles are often deceptive.
I added the story titles to the thread title.
Thanks.

The Nightwatchman's Story is almost certainly THE STREET WATCHMAN'S STORY by Charle J. Winter (1910) performed and recorded by Bransby Williams. Stanley Holloway recorded it late 1950's and the words are on "Make 'em Laugh".

Jim, are you the Jim Ward who wrote "The Washing On Our Balcony". If so, could you please post the words to it. I can only remember bits.
Cheers
Dave
