Gnomedaughter number 1 is a trained illustrator with particular leanings towards nature and folklore. While she is trying to get established commercially she has asked if I would post a promotional offer to anyone producing an album and wishing some good quality and original artwork done for free! All that is asked is that she is credited with the artwork and, provided 'clients' are happy, they pass her name to anyone else who may be interested.

Scans of existing artwork can be emailed and any ideas or preferences would be taken into account. As we are now in the global village distance is no object. Roughs and ideas can be emailed and the final product snail mailed for final copy.

PM me for details if there is any interest.

Cheers

Dave

Dave

You could also try an ad on Gumtree, the music section.

hmmm...we are looking for a logo for our folk music society...
something we can use on t-shirts, letterheads, brochures, etc.

something that shows people enjoying making music together...

but i am not sure if we could help her find many other jobs
due to the distance..we are in California. i wish her luck.

Hi - Just PM'd you, Mike.

I have been asked to post a clarification. I am not fully aware of the differences but she is after artwork and illustration rather than graphic design work. I think I am getting the picture (pun intended!) but I am sure other people will understand the differences better than I can explain them.

Cheers

Like you I'm not sure where the line is drawn between artwork and illustration and graphic design. Perhaps GD No.1 could explain?

OK - Let's see if I can get it right. Graphics are generaly line style drawings which can be reproduced on different media such as posters, letterheads, T-Shirts etc. Illustration and artwork is a bit more detailed and is generaly used on CD covers, posters etc. Graphic design is generaly, though not exclusively, done on computers, while illustration is a more 'traditional' in it's approach.

So, if I have it right, the graphic designer would produce the image that would go on all associated publications and could be easily reproduced while the illustrator would concentrate on a more specific aspect of the publications such as more detailed pictures which would take more work to duplicate.

Well, that's my understanding so far anyroads!

Hi Dave

I am a regular on the forum at UK Bluegrass and although it's a small community there are a number of people who play in bands. It may be worth joining up there (v. easy) and posting a message.

Here's the link:

Thanks for that Maria - I will have a look.

Out of interest, something I forgot entirely, she has a shop on etsy -

Gives people an idea of the type of stuff she can do.

Possibility of a couple of 'commissions' to follow up over the weekend. May not amount to anything but just goes to show how good the Mudcat can be as a starting point for everything!

Thanks all

DeG
