Reduced to guest status. If you have the Gaidhlig lyrics to Lon Dubh as done by JF and prepared to share, that would make me smile from ear to ear !

The song is called LON DUBH (BLACKBIRD) and appears on Julie Fowlis' 3-CD album "Cuilidh" (2007) and her "Live at Perthshire Amber" (2011).

The song seems to be a translation into Scots Gaelic of the Beatles' song BLACKBIRD.

(BLACKBIRD was officially credited to Lennon/McCartney but was written by Paul McCartney, and performed as a solo by McCartney on the Beatles' "white album.")

Jim, my copy of Cuilidh contains only one CD. Do you have a special edition?

MichaelR: No, I only have the description at Allmusic.com.

By the way, I have a correction: I said it was 3 CDs. The description actually says "3 disks." In fact, 2 are CDs and one is a DVD.

Ah, I see: it's a Special Edition. I'll have to track that down - maybe MusicScotland have it.

A poster on the YouTube site has posted the lyrics in what I presume is Scottish Gaelic.

Lon-dubh a' seinn ann an dubhar na h-oidhche
tog do sgiathan brist' is èirigh suas
fad do rè, bha thu a' feitheamh airson an tìd' gu togail rithe.

[blackbird singing in the darkness of the night, that your boken wing and rise up/ all your life you were waiing for the time to get away /make a run]

Lon-dubh a' seinn ann an dubhar na h-oidhche,
tog an sgàil bho d' shùil is seall gu geur
fad do rè, bha thu a' feitheamh airson an tioc a bhios tu saor.

[blackbird singing in the darkness of the night, take the shade from your eye and look sharply/ all your lifetime you were waiting to be free]

Lon-dubh sgèith, lon-dubh sgèith,
Steach dhan t-sòlas dubh na h-oidhche.

[Blackbird fly, blackbird, fly, fly.....
into the black light of the night]

Lon-dubh a' seinn ann an dubhar na h-oidhche
tog do sgiathan brist' is èirigh suas
fad do rè, bha thu a' feitheamh airson an tìd' gu togail rithe.
