I dropped in to see if there were any additional verses to a song that I seem to have known forever. I didn't find it here so I'm posting them. I can't remember where I learned it but I taught it to Helen Schneyer who recorded it.

THAT'S ALL RIGHT

cho:
That's all right. That's all right.
That's all right. That' all right.
Since my soul's got a seat up in the kingdom,
That's all right.

You may 'buke me, you may scorn me.
You may scandalize my name.
Since my soul's got a seat up in the kingdom
That's all right.

cho:

I went down to the river to pray.
My soul got happy and I stayed all day.
Since my soul's got a seat up in the kingdom
That's all right.

cho:

One of these days and it won't be long
You'll call my name and I'll be gone.
Since my soul's got a seat up in the kingdom
That's all right.

cho:

Some say Peter. Some say Paul.
Ain't but the one god made us all.
Since my soul's got a seat up in the kingdom
That's all right.

cho:

Wally,

How good to hear your cyber-voice a-comin' through the ether. And I've not thought of that good song in ages. I did sing it back when I was able.

I first heard it sung by Guy Carawan! Could that be where you heard it too? A fine song to play with and add zipper verses to.

I'm glad we're still around! Me, I'm rounder than ever...

Art Thieme

Hey Art,
Did I tell you I love you? Don't tell my wife what I said, she'll wanna love you too and then I'll get jealous.

I thought it might have been Guy Carawan but I did a cursory check to see if he had recorded it and I couldn't find anything.

I'm glad to see your still kicking around. Who was it that we called "The Round Mound of Sound"?

Wally

Wally,
I think it was on a cassette of Guy's. Maybe that tape was called "Sparkles And Shines"----but maybe not.

When your memory goes, forget it!

Speaking of your wife, our fling was at least 30 years ago---too far back to be of any consequence. I hope, as this thread is titled, "That's Alright" with you.

Yeah, we're both still here. Mudcat keeps me up on the music some--and where it's heading. Me, I'm on a roll these days. -- Got your e-mail and might actually respond to it---if I remmember.

Art

Hi, Art and Wally - I found the song on a Carawan Family CD titled Home Brew. Helen Bonchek Schneyer's recording is on an album called What a Singing There Will Be.

Thanks for the Carawan reference Joe. Helen recorded that live a few miles from here. I was there. It was a rigged audience filled with singers.

Pete Seeger did that recording "Story Songs" for Columbia at a live performance at the Village Vanguard in NYC a number of years ago.
