Apparently, it is either "Turlough O'Carolan", or ,if not using his first name, just "Carolan"------ sorry, but that's how it goes ( in his case) in the Irish language ! ( Beats me !!).

furrhermore people here in Ireland can get offended if you drop their o,it has connotations with being a souper, dropping your O to get the soup during the famine.

My apologies for my English ignorance, and thanks for the insights into the possible complications of using or not using the O. I notice that O'Neill's famous tune compilation is always referred to as O'Neill rather than Neill, but maybe that's the English and Americans at work again.

Anyway, it's going to be a fine workshop and the music awaits anyone who'd like to take part.

Valmai,as you know usage of the language changes, what may have been the fashion in O Carolans time, it is not the fashion now,as you know I live in Ireland, and I can state categorically, that if one went around calling[for example]Mr O Donovan,Mr Donovan, you would be politely reminded that it is O Donovan.
as I stated earlier because of political happenings that have occurred at the time of the famine, it would NOW be considered cheeky to drop someones O.,
bubbly rat is referring to archaic outmoded obsolete language.

Hello, Valmai.   Best wishes for a successful day.

At first I thought it seemed expensive, but then I saw how long the 'workshop' will be. Well worth it! There is much to discover in O'Carolan's music.

Sorry I cannot attend myself; there's an ocean in the way.

The workshop is now sold out, but we're keeping a waiting list. There are still plenty of evening tickets available.

Floor singers & players will be welcome, as always. From the list of people who've already bought tickets, there will be some excellent and unusual performers.

Valmai
