Can anyone tell me why the interesting and well argued thread relating to Folk Against Fascism and the way that a right-wing racist organisation has been trying to undermine its activities has suddenly disappeared in the last hour?

I think it was proposed by a few that the thread be 'boycotted' and that another should be created in its place.

Probably because someone tried to crayon all over it. The thread's currently being patched up at Mrs Tiggywinkles.

I deleted the BNP thread for several reasons:

Because first the thread was taken over by people using false identities.

And then after I cleaned up the first mess, it was hijacked by the usual little group of small-minded British Mudcatters who seem to think that it is their sacred right to hound Lizzie Cornish off the face of the earth.

And because time and time again, Mudcatters have proved that they are incapable of conducting a civil discussion on this topic.

Want proof of that last one? Put BNP in the Filter and take a look at the past thread. There has been discussion of banning BNP threads altogether. If this nonsense keeps up, that's what will happen.

This thread is closed, and today's BNP/FaF thread has been deleted and will not be reopened. I spent three hours trying to keep peace in that thread over the last day, and it just wasn't worth it.
