This is a truly fabulous find!!!

Somebody, I am assuming of European found and posted this on youtube.

This is Big Bill Broonzy playing in some unknown club in Belgium.
He is doing some of his most popular tunes. "When did you leave Heaven?"
"Just a Dream" - incredible now that Obama is in white house.
Is black and white and its surreal with the smoke (Its Eruope in the 50's everyones smoking including BiG Bill) shame when you think he died from complications of Lung Cancer. All of these Belgium folks tappin their feet and boping their heads to his music.
Big Bil has been gone a long time. He died in 1958 and I was born in 1954 so this is the closest we will ever get to a live performance. Enjoy and like me, savor every moment of this film.

Great little film, seeing Big Bill play and sing is a treat and the cinematography is cool 50s European avant garde, very atmospheric.

Unless I'm mistaken this film was shown as part of a highly memorable night which BBC 2 devoted to the blues in the late 1980s. I didn't have a video recorder in those days, so I placed a mike in front of the tv speaker, and kept feeding cassettes into the audio recorder. Why do we so seldom see stuff like that on terrestrial tv nowadays?

This is available on a Big Bill Broonzy/Roosevelt Sykes dvd from all the usual places if anyone wants to buy one. Which I would certainly recommend.

Thank you. I was not aware this was commercially available.
I know Stefan Grossman has released some great performances (in addition to his instruction recordings)
