Again - in the music section so the most people see it. Put on by W y s i w y G ! - 90% to Michael's fund, 10% to Mudcat. It's been up for a day or so with no activity so I thought it needed a bit of publicity.

What could be better for a hockey fans' auction than a Genuine Lord Stanley Cup"?!?!?!?!? Be the first one on your block to own a piece of hockey history! ;~)

As all true hockey fans know, right now the Cup belongs to my Penguins, and the Auction will end on NHL Awards Night. "The 2010 NHL Awards, to be broadcast live from the Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Hotel Las Vegas on June 23, 2010, on VERSUS in the United States and CBC in Canada, will bring together the League's best players, celebrities and other NHL VIPs in celebration of the season's brightest stars." (nhl.com)

No one who bids and contributes need lack for merch, either. I have a whole bagful of hockey merch right here as consolation prizes to the LOSERS, LOSERS, LOSERS ("You wouldn't MAKE it in the NHL!") Sorry, no golf clubs-- yet. :~)

Thanks, Jacqui.

Altho it was designed to attract hockey fans (MWH is one of our hockey-pals), any member is welcome to join the fun and raise some more funds.

Oh and PS, Seamus Kennedy is set to do the next Auction after the Cup auction. We think it's a good idea not to run too many at the same time, so the giving can go on for a longer time.

Since there is such a long finish date on this auction might it be better if Seamus puts his auction up now - plenty of time between a normal finish time and this one from a financial point of view.

There have been multiple items in the auction in the past.
Why the "just one" idea? If I were to post a CD in the auction it wouldn't draw hockey fans would it?

It's not a competition, is it?

I confess I don't see any problem with simultaneous auction threads. I hope hockey fans and friends and family of hockey fans will be intrigued enough to bid. At the same time those who wish to contribute in other auctions can also do so. Competition? To the contrary, I'd say each of the auctions being discussed will enhance the other, friend Susan. None of us is in charge of any others as far as the posting of auction items, anyway. We must use our own best judgment.

This matter may be better discussed via PMs so as to leave the focus of this thread firmly on the fundraising.

I can't quite follow the rules for this auction, but then I don't follow enough hockey to expect to. Perhaps to the avid fans the description makes lots of sense. If so, I hope some bids will appear in the hockey auction, here.

So bid high and bid often, hockey fans.

maeve

Exactly. Just as I expect it shall be. Vive la Mudcat!

If anyone would like to help promote the present auction, here is the link I am sending via PM to the hockey pals from previous years' threads-- and I could use some help getting the word around to them:

winning the Cup this year

I view it as a chance to do a lot of good for a good friend.

Thanks for all the refreshes, BTW, gang. I bet MWH loves seeing all this....

I put a 24.5" Fancy Jasper, Picasso stone chip, crystal and sterling necklace in there. Ends midnight on the 11th. If Seamus puts a book or something in that, I'll bid on that while y'all are (hopefully) distracted by the necklace. Buy it for your favorite hockey fan.

It is beautiful, Jeri. I don't expect to win but I put in a bid.
Many of us have pieces designed and beaded by Jeri. Beautiful, one of a kind treasures.

A new auction and a new concept. Either bid or you win the prizes. So far a 4' dead inflated lobster, a 2+' blue glitter peacock and one tiny nun - community of your choice. I have Josephites, Sisters of Mercy and Ursulines, I think.

See the reverse auction and protect yourself with a bid of any amount.
Shipping's on me.
