Please can anyone recognise the tunes being played in this link for a friend of mine? We think they are Scottish.

Many thanks

Track 1 second tune: Shetland reel "Da Bonnie Isle o' Whalsey"

The others, no idea.

The 2nd tune on track 2 rings the vaguest of bells, but not enough to put a name to I'm afraid.

I'd suggest you try feeding them into Folk Tune Finder and / or Name This Tune, both of which I've had success with in the past.

Another avenue would be to write the tunes out in abc (here's a link to my tutorial if you're not up to speed on abc), and then post them here and to other forums like tradtunes. It's odd, but in my experience true, that musicians can often identify tunes when playing them through on their own instrument when they can't identify them from a recording of someone else playing them.

1A and 2A, which are similar, seem to be derived from "Mueller".

Cf. "Away in a Manger".
