Does anyone have contact information for David Dodds who wrote "The Magpie" which Howie Bursen and I recorded some 25 years ago? A friend wants to record the song and needs to know how to reach him. Thanks!

Young No More may have the details you need - they recorded the song a few years ago on their excellent CD Three For A Girl.

Hi, Sally-
Please look at the crosslinked threads. We've tried David Dodds before and got some leads, but no final answer. About the best information I can find on him is here (click) at the Folktrax Website of the late Peter Kennedy. Dodds recorded the song in 1979 with Don & Sarah MORGAN of the group "Curate's Egg."

Curiously, I need this information now too, for the same reason. I'm compiling a CD of songs recorded here and there as sung by my late wife, Mary LaMarca, and me, in her memory. "The Magpie" (learned some 25 years ago from Sally Rogers and Howie Bursen) is a favorite; in fact, I'm titling the CD "One's For Sorrow, Two's For Joy" (from the chorus).

Dave used to be a drinking partner of Lawrence's and a regular at Stagfolk during the late 70s/early 80s, before Dave moved to Devon.

Hi, I've had a couple of people asking about Dave, and can't give much help I'm afraid. I know that his work was something to do with road haulage and removals, so you might find him under a trade directory...don't know how many Dodds there are out there... Good luck anyway.
