Subject: Review: Gary Miller REFLECTIONS OF WAR just out From: *#1 PEASANT* Date: 26 Apr 10 - 12:41 PM Good to have this from Gary Miller: Reflections on War Whippet Records 2010 WPT CD 22 A very exciting, multi-faceted view of war from Gary Miller for whom war has been a part of his family history and the history of the North East of England for generations. Gary and his brother formed the Whiskey Priests and produced many wondrous cds filled with the culture and folk art of the North-East of England. This look at war is equally folky and earthy. But it is also reflective and inspirational- comforting. Great listening with a variety of styles and textures. Highly recommended. Gary produced the cd as part of a project with York Art Gallery. As a result the Cd folder is very well done. An artwork in itself. The cd is truly inspiring and uplifting and covers the phenomena of war now so much a part of our own experience today. Well worth listening to. The man has folk roots that spring from the coaly earth of the North East- a rare quality indeed.
