Hi Folks, the Beech is closed - not sure for how long.

The good news is the Horse and Jockey, next door, will welcome us all for Beginners Tunes tomorrow at 8. See you all then?

Les

Well it's a bit posh but the space seems pretty good and people played tunes well!

Thanks to Rob, Laura, Ted, Ken, Phil, Ged, Marie-Claire, Janet, Jenny, Brian, Mark, Mickey, Ursula, Wes and Josh. Keen to know what others thought

The management seemed very pleased and are keen for us to stay. So next Wednesday Sog my butnet at The Horse & Jockey

Cheers

Ok Folks we are definetly welcome at The Horse & Jockey next Wednesday it would be good if we flooded the place with people - even if most didn't sing or even get in the singing bit of the pub. So give us and The Horse & Jockey your warmest support on May 5th.

Cheers

Good strategy Les.

It is much easier to sing surrounded by other singers/listeners and this sort of ambience is usually better than in a completely "open" pub.

Just had a chat with Enterprise Inns - the owners of The Beech - they say they are looking for new tennants and expect the pub to open again when they find some.

Well, we had a good night at The Gockey - thanks to Steve, Dave, Ingrid, Ged, Ken, Phil, Rob, Sandra, Phil, Jeanette, Kate, Chris, Bob, Norman, Helen, John, Gordon, Marie-Claire, Janet, Bob, Sue and Mike.

The Dog Show on the Green brought in an interesting crowd and I guess loud dogs are preferable to loud drunks.

Two sets of Northumbrian Smallpipes, two banjos, three squeezers a fiddle, whistles and some guitars Oh and about 20 singers!

Thakns again

Ok Folks,

The Beech Band - anybody who has sung, sang, played or mimed at the Beech - will play at The Lauriston Club, behind the Lloyds on Manchester Road, tonight at 8pm.

We will also be back at The Horse and Jockey next Wednesday for songs and a few tunes - mostly but not exclusively traditional. All welcome

Thanks to Olga, Dave, John, Sue, Bob, Ken, John, Ann, Alan, Rob, Brian, Helen. Chris, Ted, Laura, Shelley, Kate, Ged and Janet.

Lots of excellent songs and tunes. I felt sorry for that bloke with the hat and the folding bike, a Brompton no less, but I noticed he was later refused at the bar and clearly passed his best.

beginners (?) Tunes Tuesday 29 June then songs Wednesday 7 July.

We are thinking of a free and informal Ceilidh with The Beech Band (honest) in the middle of July, responses on a post card please.

Cheers
Les

I was really looking forward to this, not having sung anything to anyone anywhere since the end of May, but I've been laid low with a stomach bug. Someone will have to sing into Ken's ear on my behalf.

Wahey, the Beech! Let's hope the landlord and the pubco between them can keep it open this time round.

Oh, and did I mention I'm on MySpace? (Now with added Ewan!)

Well a grand evening of songs from Helen, Ged, Kate, Bob, Sue, Dave, Olga, Ken, Laura, Ted, Roger, Chris, Sandra, Phil, Bob, Norman, Janet, Marie-Claire, Jeanette, Dave, Alan and Mike.

More than a bit of backround from the reat of the pub - those knives and forks are mostly to blame and bar staff throwing bottles in waste bins in 9/8 when we were obviuosly playing a waltz didn't help at all.

I think we agreed to give the Beech a go next Wednesday - a mix of songs and tunes to welcome Chris the new Landlord.

Thanks again for all the songs and tunes

I guess this thread should really be called The Horse moves back to The Beech as last night we had a brilliant evening of songs and tunes at the newly reopened Beech.

Thanks to Jen, Sheila, Ken, Marie-Claire, Janet, Bob, Norman, Phil, Laura, Ted, John, Helen, Dave, Alan, Dave, Sue, Bob, John, Ann, Ged, Rob, Jeanette, Phil, and the new Landlords Chris and Chris.

Look forward to seeing all those and many others at our first informal Ceilidh at The Irish Club next Wednesday 21 July.
