Folk singer from UK by the name of Joan Mills recorded albums with singer, Mike Raven.
I was wondering if anyone knows how many albums she recorded with Mike Raven and if she had any of her own recordings?
I just have one album they recorded together in the 1970's. I have not heard anything about her for many years and just would like to know if anyone has information about her. Is she still singing? With Mike or someone else? Is she singing at any folk clubs?
Joan's voice is lovely!

Sadly Mike died a couple of years ago. He was a local historian and incredible guitarist. He lived in Market Drayton Shropshire. I have not heard from Joan for quite a long time, she used to be a regular at The Falcon Folk Club in Stafford in the 70's. I have only the one LP, 'Death and the Lady, but they certainly recorded more.

More info about their recordings on Mike's website hereMCP and I met them at the National festival at Sutton Bonnington one year and Mike very generously gave us a couple of his CDs.

Michael and Joan recorded "Death and the Lady" c. 1972 on Folk Heritage label, and "The Miller's Song (Can Y Melinydd)" c.1976 on Stoof label ....

Joan has sung with Frankie Armstrong on "Ways of Seeing" (Harbourtown CD, 1996) and "The Fair Moon Rejoices" (Harbourtown CD, 1997)

I used to know Joan quite well, in fact, I managed to put her ex husband Norman through the windscreen of my car one night when I gave him a lift home from a folk club and managed to run into a wall! She and mike were often at Bromyard Festival, Mike myself and a few others would get pretty wasted together on the Sunday afternoon - happy days.

Thanks for all who have posted info about Joan Mills. I was sorry to hear about Mike. As I live in Califoria, I don't really hear much news about British folk artists unless they are very well known around the world. The only LP I have of Joan & Mike is the one called, "Death and the Lady" which I bought many years ago on a visit to UK.
Is there any way to find the two CDs that rich joy posted information about Joan singing on? (Frankie Armstrong's CD, "Ways of Spring" and "The Fair Moon Rejoices)?
I doubt I will be able to find them in California unless there was distribution of these CD's in U.S.A.

There's a copy of The Fair Moon Rejoices on Amazon, but I doubt you'd want to buy it at $32.

Joan Mills also sings a lovely version of The May Morning Dew on Frankie's CD, The Garden Of Love. Which I rather like. It's on Fellside, and you might be able to get it in the States through Elderly Instruments or Camsco.

Don't know about the others.

Hi Anglo:

I tried several times to join Mudcat by completing all the information they required. Kept trying to Submit it but it came back with an error page that didn't make sense. I went back to be sure I had filled in all the required info. but it still didn't work.
The error page was confusing and didn't really explain what the problem was.....so I don't know what to do.
