Subject: Folklore: Frank C. Brown Collection NC Folklore From: GUEST,Dani Date: 01 May 10 - 12:55 PM Just saw a full set of this at an auction preview. Books, even this kind, don't usually fetch high prices there. Is this something someone here might have an interest in? I see many citations in the mudcat from the collection. Act, as they say, now. I could go over and bid this afternoon/evening if someone wanted me to. Dani |

Subject: RE: Folklore: Frank C. Brown Collection NC Folklor From: Anglo Date: 01 May 10 - 01:14 PM I only have vols 4, 5, 6, but I wouldn't want to spend a lot to complete the set, so I'll decline. A very generous offer, though. In any event, you can find the whole thing online HERE. |

I recently found a digitized copy of a fabulous old book I was looking for and read the whole thing online.... didn't keep me from wanting to have it in my hand, though : ) Dani |

Subject: RE: Folklore: Frank C. Brown Collection NC Folklore From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 01 May 10 - 01:34 PM Checking offerings by Abebooks and Alibris turns up odd volumes. The three music volumes are: II, Ballads, edited by H. M. Belden and A. P. Hudson. III, Folk Songs, edited by H. M. Belden and A. P. Hudson IV. The Music from the Ballads and Songs. Edited by P. Shinhan. This volume has musical scores for most of the songs and ballads. Mine were listed in Abebooks and were discards from the Fort Worth Public Library (anything not regularly checked out of libraries is discarded). Joe saw the listing and alerted me. Prices were reasonable (probably less than new printings would cost). abebooks.com and alibris.com Thanks, Anglo, for the link. There are some other interesting books on that list.... |

Subject: RE: Folklore: Frank C. Brown Collection NC Folklore From: Steve Gardham Date: 01 May 10 - 03:00 PM Vol V is the music of the songs. I have II and V and would like a copy of III but postage from US to UK is pretty expensive. Thanks for the offer anyway, Dani. Presume you're across the pond from me. |
