My first grandchild a little boy is due any day ... Jacqui made him the single most beautiful baby blanket I ever layed eyes on ... I will post a photo later ... OH my Gosh thank you ... that was so very kind, Thank you from the bottom of my heart!! What a master Jacqui is ... Holy Cow !!

Those two are such generous souls, to be sure! I've tried to take up the example from Jacqui--stealth gift giving is fun for the recipients, and fun for the giver too, so I've been sending out a few items for folks who needed a little pick me up. I have a lot of material here at the house to choose from when recycling books and such, but whatever the item, it really is nice to see Jacqui's example that a small gift can mean a lot (especially one of those handmade items!)

She is in labor ... my wife and I are heading out ...
her husband and the greatest guy I could ever ask for in a son in law is there in the delivery room (he is also a doc so she is well taken care of). her sisters are there at the hospital and we will be there shortly ... gotta 4 hour flight

Ah, OldDude, you underestimate the passionate attachment between a child and a blanket. My Godson (age 25) cooried doon with his beloved blankie for years and years. One day when he was about 10 or 11(!) and otherwise well-adjusted, his mama stole it away for a long-needed washing and it sort of floated apart in the wash... still, he persisted in tucking the shreds into his pillowcase so he could touch it while falling asleep.

On a visit home from college, years later, he accidentally left his wallet. We found a grey scrap of that old blanket tucked in between his driver's license and his student ID card!

Here's wishing and hoping your own wee grandbairn gets as much loving use and comfort from his own handmade treasure...but don't you be too surprised if it wears out in less than 40 years!

My son is 18, and still sleeps with a quilt made by a neighbor woman in our old neighborhood. She had each kid on the block draw a cat on a square (some of them are very primitive, because the kids were very small) and then she set them in a lovely quilt. I wash it very gently. He's going to college next year. I wonder if this will go also? (His favorite bear was moved to the closet a couple of years ago, after hanging out on the bed forever, because he was just too brittle).

I forgot to put the band in from the ball of yarn. This yarn is machine washable and dryable and should be fairly hardwearing.

Well still at it, 18 hours ... wow ... but she is in the last inning for sure ... good thing she is a ranked Ironman competitor and former NFL cheerleader ... she is a tiny girl but an amazing conditioned athlete so that helps. Doc said everything fine so far. I will keep ya posted .... my nerves are shot ...
