Subject: RE: ChesterFolkFestival2010Who's going? From: Mr Happy Date: 16 May 10 - 08:03 AM Latest news! Farmers Arms re-opened - Hurrah! Also, from website: All Change at the Kelsall Pubs As always there have been some changes - Paul & Rachel, who've hosted us at the Morris Dancer for the last 2 years, have now moved down the road and taken over the Oak (now renamed back to the Royal Oak). In fact, the Morris Dancer is currently between landlords and is temporarily closed. But don't worry - we've arranged a large beer tent from a local mobile bar supplier and this will be stocking a selection of the ever popular local Weetwood ales, and the food vans are back - including our old friends the Green Machine with their large range of vegetarian food. The Morris Dancer grounds will, as usual, be the location for the site office, first aid post, morris displays and car parking. Of course, we won't have use of the Morris Dancer function room but we've managed to squeeze in all the events we'd planned into the other venues - Kelsall Community Centre, Kelsall Social Club, the Royal Oak and the Farmers Arms. So these will be bustling with activity. As always, the main concert marquee will be situated on Kelsall Green behind the Morris Dancer, together with the Craft Fair and Children's entertainment. So the Morris Dancer site will remain the main hub of the festival. |

Subject: RE: ChesterFolkFestival2010Who's going? From: GUEST,henryp Date: 01 Jun 10 - 03:11 PM Always well organised and certainly a great line up this year. A model of a medium sized festival in every respect...apart from the lack of showers on the campsite! Congratulations to Rusty on her spoons workshop - a master cutler indeed. |
Subject: RE: ChesterFolkFestival2010Who's going? From: Paul Burke Date: 01 Jun 10 - 03:30 PM You wanted showers? What about Saturday, not just showers but deluges! Lovely do; thanks to all who made it so. |
Subject: RE: ChesterFolkFestival2010Who's going? From: Mo the caller Date: 01 Jun 10 - 04:14 PM Yes indeed. Thanks to all the committee. Only complaint, I couldn't quite get to see everything I wanted to - which must mean there was a lot of good stuff on. |
Subject: RE: ChesterFolkFestival2010Who's going? From: Mr Happy Date: 04 Jun 10 - 08:28 AM Apologies tardiness in responding to festival debriefing. Meself & the Gloom Band enjoyed a superb several days [& nights] folking about all over, on the campsite, the beer tent, Farmers Alms, The Roy Loke, Social Club & Community Centre. No shortage of seshes, musicing & signarounds. Managed to stay away from the concerts as usual but got dragged screaming into the Folk Club, & pleasantly satisfied with wondrous performances from Bernard Wriggley [parody Listen with Mother & the cricket commentary!!- anyone else hear? - hilarious!! ] Also at the FC saw Roger Wilson - brilliant fiddle & what a voice! He did 'Hey Joe' [popularised by Jimi Hendrix] on fiddle & for the first time I understood what this trad American folksong was about. A great guitar player too - Mr Happy appropriately impressed! |
