Hello All,

If you would like to steward at Whitby Folk Week this year, you can fill in a form here:

http://www.whitbyfolk.co.uk/stewards_app_form.html

You would be working up to 5 hours per day in return for a season ticket including camping.

Thanks,

Eilish

A tickets costs a maximum of £128 a camping permit £32, a total of £160, working for 35 hours equates to £4.57 per hour, well below the national minimum wage !

Oh and BTW mean spirited Guest, you forgot to factor the free entry to all events benefit, into your cost analysis.
Add to that the fact you can have a few beers while you steward, not a normal perk in many "jobs"
Go away and get a life mate!

Ah, guest; but it's a question of lending a helping hand and getting 'paid' for it, in return for all the joy I've had from attending!

Its up to 5 hours a day... most times you work a lot less usually with a day off... more like 30 hours (thats £5.33 per hour) I worked 25 hours (£6.40 an hour)... who's complaining...?? if you dont want to do it... dont...!!!

John the post did not forget the "free entry to all events benefit" thats what stewards are working for, 5 hours do seem a long time each day. I have stewarded at many festivals over the years but would consider 5 hours to be too much. The post is a reasonable observation of the facts, if this were a "proper" job it would be illegal to offer such a rate of pay

But it's NOT a proper job, and if paid stewards were employed, at the going rate, then Whitby would either be unaffordable for myself, and many others, or it would fold.
Apples and oranges mate.

Damn straight. God bless the stewards. Can't do Whitby this this year but maybe next. It is in my festival calendar.

Well Skarpi, I'll look after you if you can get there. I shall be stewarding at the Conservative Club again.
Nothing to do with politics, the beer is cheaper there :)

Well Linda Kelly has 3 tents which she stores at Hazel's for safe keeping, if you ask her nicely, she may lend you one. :)

wish I could make it, imagine stewarding a venue for 3/4 hours watching and listening to a concert!! Must be really hard! Good luck with the Fest.

I've wanted to do Whitby for years but never made it (not enough leave or cash)

Maybe one year I'll get there and if I do I'll probably end up stewarding ( I do that for most of the festivals I go to)

Dave
